September 2011
Dear Ministry Partner,
It seems like the last month, in so many ways, has been a blur; yet so much has happened personally, professionally and in ministry. Again, this year I attended the worldwide Leadership Summit on August 11th and 12th with hundreds of thousands of people on satellite. Our group consisted of 142 people, and we were at the Kensington Community Church location in Troy, Michigan. This event, every year, is thought-provocative and heart-wrenching. It is a stimulus for me, and those who attend, in our leadership abilities and progress. I am amazed every year at the quality of presenters and the information that is communicated that impacts us in ministry in a siginficant way. If you would ever like to learn more about this Summit you can look it up at www.willowcreek.com/events/leadership. I would recommend that you listen to the audio presentations. They will change you!
I am involved with weddings and talk preparation at an all time high level. I was in Tanazania, Africa for an extended period of time. During that adventure, I had some great times of reading. In fact, here is another recommendation, "Necessary Endings" by Dr. Henry Cloud. It is an excellent book for anyone in business, leading an organization or overseeing a ministry. I had a great time to read, reflect, refresh and God prepared me for the upcoming ministry season. While I was gone, we had a group go to Guatemala and return. More houses were built, stoves were installed and the ministry continues!
I am really excited about the series that we are going to do starting October 2nd. By the way, at The River Community Church on October 2, we go to three Experiences on Sunday morning: 9:00am, 10:30am, and 12:00noon. We would love to have you come and experience a Weekend with us! These mornings are Christ-centered, culturally relevant and Christ is transforming people in some special ways. During this series, we will be investigating the idea that a lot of Christians may be closer to atheists than they realize. We believe in God, but don't really believe we can change. We believe in God, but we don't put a high priority on the church. We believe in God, but we continue to worry. We believe in God, but we wallow in our past. You get the idea. Maybe we really should call the series the "...But Series."
The first full weekend of October I will be speaking for a men's retreat. Most of these men have some type of connection with Kensington Community Church, a ministry that we are indebted to and deeply involved with. I can honestly say that each and every day I am challenged in the ministry that God has called me/us to. It is our desire to help students, parents, and adults take their next step in being closer to Christ.
Thanks for making it possible! Your ongoing prayer and financial support is needed, appreciated and a great encouragement. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Your Friend in Ministry,
Terry Prisk
